Indulging the Romantic

Finally got around to watching Before Sunrise on DVD.

After seeing it, I'm going to wait 6 months to this day then will watch Before Sunset.

An inner dialogue follows...

Logical Charis: Why wait when it's already available now?
Illogical, romantic, nonsensical Charis: Why not?

Sipat

if you've time, click to see some past and current attempts to re-acquaint with an old friend.

"Hey, we have to talk..."

Past weeks have really been nothing new.

Well, maybe save for one seemingly minor event, that when I think about it more, doesn't seem to be as minor as I had initially thought.

The action:
Finally got to talk to someone I had meant to talk to for so long: basically telling him news that's about as ancient as this attention-deficient generation can conceive (i.e. 6 weeks). In a nutshell, the status quo between the two of us has to change, primarily because of changes I'm going through. Part of the dilemma here, however, is that said person is not in a position to understand such things. Which is no fault of his.

The result:
Not quite as I had expected. But then again a lot of things haven't turned out as I had expected them anyway. What makes me think this should be any different?
A lot of arguments,
a lot of questions,
some answers,
some half-truths,
one or two confessions...

An over-all cheery story, actually....

The consequence:
Compromise.

This gets a lot of flack from most people which I usually object to. But now that I'm on the side that compromises more than the other party, I now see why that noble feeling just doesn't quite cut it. You set your mind to do one thing and when it doesn't pan out, you make do.

And making do sucks.

But you live with it, only because you have no choice.

What makes this seemingly innocuous incident blog-worthy, I suppose, is the fact that said incident occured in a span of not more than 10 minutes.

In this "instant-everything" world, I'm actually not surprised.
